The Next Step!

On February 19th, we held The Pick Group Kick Off Meeting- and what a success! With 56 in attendance, including attorneys, financial planners, administrators, non-profit fundraisers, account managers, city developers, realtors, even a pilot and a teacher, we were thrilled! Thrilled is actually an understatement- we were ecstatic!

We shared our vision for The Pick Group- we want to be a REAL asset to this community, as we are leaders today and not just tomorrow. We seek to provide space and a forum for discussion, growth and support as we develop our careers in our respective industries. We will coordinate the involvement of members in the civic arena, whether through volunteerism, non-profit philanthropy, or a host of other opportunities. We also hope to grow our own relationships and network through a wide variety of social activities. We have said it before- this isn’t your typical networking group!

The Pick Group has received a great deal of attention in the community already. At the meeting, we shared statements of support made by Mayor Loveridge, Roy Taylor, Rich Simonin, Dr. Ellen Wartella and other community leaders. These thoughts were echoed by those in attendance, one who shared that this “is exactly what the Inland Empire needs in order to develop into the next great place. I believe in the mission of this organization to my core.”

So, the word is out- what’s the next step? In order to mobilize, we need to establish a decision-making board. Many shared their interest in serving on the Executive Board, and we will hold official elections at the next meeting on Tuesday, March 11 from 6-7 pm at the Riverside Art Museum. At this point, the Executive Board will include the following positions:

President
Vice President
2nd Vice President
Secretary
Treasurer
Civic Involvement Committee Chair
Social Committee Chair
Professional Development Committee Chair
Membership Committee Chair
Nominating Chair
Two Members at Large

We also received a great deal of interest in committee participation- let us know if you are interested in serving on the Civic Involvement, Professional Development, Social and Membership committees (see committee descriptions).

So please mark your calendars for the next meeting, Tuesday, March 11 from 6-7 pm at the Riverside Art Museum- and bring at least two friends!!! Help us get the word out about The Pick Group!
