Thank you very much for the opportunity to participate in Riverside’s 2009 Relay for Life
through The Pick Group. It was an amazing experience. I had been interested in
the idea of participating in a relay for some time. Pick’s involvement in civic
activities prompted me to become involved, and provided the avenue and support to make
it possible.
The Pick members at the relay included Maribel, Vanessa Rose, Sheena Dansie,
Brent Lee and Ana Yeager, Alyson, and Mark Harris!
I now have a glimpse of the importance of Relay for Life. Some of my favorite moments
over the weekend were the Survivor Lap, speaking w/ a radiant, elderly Survivor who
rolled around the track in her wheelchair and got to the event by bus, seeing Alyson
and Kristen’s love and appreciation for each other, watching Maribel sleep-walk around
the track, and witnessing the community that unfortunately and fortunately – cancer
creates.
