Pick CIC NEEDS YOU:

• Someone to own the responsibility for City Council “stuff”
• To provide Informing, Resourcing, and Empowering for our members in this area.
• Informing:  Providing a link to the City Council agenda both on the Pick Website and also in the weekly email blast, with a short note highlighting one or two things that might interest Young Professionals in order to tickle their interest to visit the site and check out the agenda.  They might also want to provide the days, channel, and times that the meeting will be televised for those that can’t make it to the meeting.
• Resourcing:  Providing a PDF that outlines City Council Meeting Etiquette, a clear explanation of the decision making process, and the city government structure; and also establishing a clear stance (which we could publish on PDF) that explains how to interact as a Pick Member, but not as an official representative of Pick when voicing their opinions, etc…
• Empowering:  Providing links to various news articles, or public documents on both sides of particular issues of interest (I think it’s more important to have something, than to have the exact “right” topics highlighted… The goal being to create a culture of engagement more than to encourage participation on any particular issue); and create a statement for Pick that outlines the need for Young Professionals to engage in the civic process and paints a picture of the benefits that may result from our participation.
